Sarah Pelham

Physiotherapist & Clinic Owner – North Shore Lab

Education:
Sarah graduated from AUT in 2007 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy. She is currently completing her Masters of Health Practice at AUT, and Post Graduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Otago University. She has also completed a number of courses on movement analysis, exercise prescription and dry needling.

Experience:
Sarah has worked in a variety of roles in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Within these roles she delivered treatment to a number of schools, aged care and physically dependent facilities and also in clients’ homes. Primarily her focus has been in musculoskeletal physiotherapy but has explored and experienced components of cardiorespiratory and neurological physiotherapy which impacts her current practice.
She works closely with a number of weightlifters and CrossFit athletes who compete at national and international level. Sarah has also worked with club rugby teams and for North Harbour in the premier, reserve and restricted grades.

Professional views and special interests:
Sarah enjoys working with clients of all levels of abilities with the variety of goals and challenges each bring. She enjoys problem solving and finding creative solutions. Sarah looks to correct movement dysfunctions that may be asymptomatic, as this unlocks performance potential and assists injury prevention. Sarah believes that education is paramount as it allows understanding of the recovery process and requirements. Education equips you with the tools for self-management and also assists in preventing injury reoccurrence.

Outside of the Lab:
Sarah enjoys exploring the outdoors and will give almost anything a go. Her top picks are trail running and heading up the mountain snowboarding in winter. She has a couple of marathons under her belt and hoping to add to these this year. And also enjoys CrossFit, especially the pre workout coffee chats!
